WHAT EVERY PARENT SHOULD KNOW

More than 70 percent of all Mothers work outside the home. As a result there are plenty of child care options from Nannies to Daycare Facilities. One of the best options is a daycare or learning center. Many centers offer exceptional care with licensed and trained caregivers and an environment where your children will learn good social skills with other children their age. However, all centers are not alike or provide the same services. How do you know which center is best for your child.

Here are a few steps you should take when choosing a facility: .

-	Talk to other parents and/or your pediatrician. At Schoolzin Schoolzout feel free to talk to the parents. Many of our parents have been with us for years. Most of our children we obtained as infants and they have remained with us until they were past the learning centers cut of age.
-	Set up an interview with the facility. Take a tour.  Parents looking for a learning center are welcome to come by Schoolzin Schoolzout anytime. There are periods when we are very busy, however, so you may want to call first if you want to minimize any interrupts. However, we will welcome you anytime.
-	Drop by unannounced. If you are considering more than one facility. Drop by unannounced before making your final decision. At Schoolzin Schoolzout you are welcome to come by anytime.

-	What’s your accreditation?
	Schoolzin Schoolzout has a valid state license and we are two star Quality Rated. Quality Rated is a systemic approach to assess, improve, and communicate the level of quality in early education and school-age care programs. Any child care program participating in Georgia’s Quality Rated has agreed to meet standards that exceed the state’s licensing requirements and is committed to improving the quality of care it provides to children.  Based on the results of a rigorous application process, programs are awarded one star, two stars, or three stars. A star rating - regardless if it is one, two or three stars - indicates a higher quality program.
-	What is the teacher/child ratio?
	At Schoolzin Schoolzout our ratio of children to teachers in all age groups is less than the maximum recommended by the state of Georgia.
-	What qualifications do the class teachers have?
	All lead teachers have a Child Development Accreditation (CDA) or higher.
-	What training do you require the teachers have?
	Teachers are required to obtain 10 hours annually in CPR and First Aid. And we are the only staff in Catoosa County where we have teachers licensed to administer insulin.
-	How do you select your teachers?
	In the interview process, teachers must have participate in a 2 to 3 face to face interviews before they are hired. They are given scenarios of classroom behaviors or problems and asked how they would handle/respond. They are asked questions that related specifically to their credentials. All of our teachers go through an intensive national background check and are finger printed.
-	How long have the teachers been on staff?
	We have a very low turnover rate for our teachers.  The majority of our teachers have been at Schoolzin Schoolzout for more than 10 years.

-	What do you serve the children to eat?
	Our meals meet the USDA dietary standards. We provide good nutritional meals. Our menus are varied to encourage children to try all foods. Our monthly menus are posted on twitter each month.
	We provide a daily breakfast for children that arrive before 7:55am, as well as a well-balanced lunch and afternoon snack. We honor and take extra caution for a child with food allergies. If a child is allergic to a particular food, that food is not allowed in the room with the child. We go the extra mile to ensure your child is not exposed to foods that could harm them.
